All of China's earliest natural gas chemical bases were built within its gas production zones such as Sichuan basin. From 2004, China's natual gas chemical industry started to break the geographic boundary limits as a couple of long-distance pipelines were put into operation. New chemical plants were built alongside these pipelines (West-East Pipeline 1, Zhong-Wu Pipeline, Shaan-Jing Pipeline, Sichuan to East China Pipeline).
With the formation of China's state and provincial pipeline grid, natural gas chemical is expected to be a nationwide industry in China. According to the statistics by 2017.5 from China Natural Gas Map, Databases and Reports, 114 natural gas chemical bases, locating in China's 24 provinces, will be available for operation by 2018. Main products of these chemical bases are fertilizers and Methanol. View Gas Chemical Base Statistics>
