As China’s natural gas consumption grows, a reliable gas storage system for peakshaving services starts to appear on top of the agenda. by 2017.4, China’s existing gas storages contribute an overall working gas capacity of 7.339 bcm. This figure is lower than 20 days’ national gas consumption volume for China. If China would like to secure a 30 days’ storage in 2015, it needs to expand the working gas capacity to 25 bcm as the total gas consumption in that year is estimated to be 300 bcm.

According to statistics of China Natural Gas Map, Databases and Reports, there are 47 underground gas storages (existing, constructioning, planning). The commission of new storages will add 32.5 bcm working gas capacity into operation, and then increase the overall capacity to 40 bcm. View Gas Storage Statistics>
